Credits & Plans
CarlBot runs on credits. Every IgorBox Studio plan includes a monthly allowance, and CarlBot spends from it as it works. When the balance runs out, CarlBot pauses until more credits arrive. You're never charged for going over.
How credits are spent
Each credit is worth one cent. Credits are charged for the work CarlBot does, sized by the job, not per message.

A few details:
- Transcription is charged for the full length of the clip. You see the estimate first, then choose Use credits. If a transcription fails, the credits come back automatically.
- Stopping a reply still charges for the part CarlBot already did.
- Drafting a Remember this memory update uses a small amount.
- Clear, specific prompts cost less than vague ones, because CarlBot spends less figuring out what you meant. See Getting the best results.

Enterprise allowances are negotiated individually as part of the contract. For everyone else, included credits reset on the 1st of each month and don't carry over. A quiet month doesn't bank credits for a busy one; for that, see the credits plans and packs below.
Where to see your balance
- In the CarlBot panel. A strip at the top shows AI credits and how many are left. Hover over it for the breakdown. Everyone who can use CarlBot sees it.
- On the billing page. Admins and Owners get the full picture in the AI credits section: your total, how much came from your plan, a credits plan, or purchases, what's been used this month, and a Show history list in plain language (monthly included credits, credit pack purchased, assistant usage, audio transcription, refunds, and so on) with who used them.
Adding more credits
If you're using more than your plan includes, there are two ways to add credits. Both are on the IgorBox Studio billing page (Admins and Owners only; see Members & Roles) and check out through Stripe.
Credits plans
A credits plan adds a recurring block of credits on top of what your IgorBox Studio plan includes.

- Credits plan credits roll over month to month while the plan is active. If you cancel, they stay usable for 30 days after the plan ends, then expire.
- Yearly plans add credits one month at a time.
- One credits plan per IgorBox Studio. Upgrades apply immediately, with the difference in credits added right away. Monthly downgrades apply at renewal; a yearly plan can only move down at renewal.
- Cancelling keeps the plan until the end of the period you've paid for.
You can purchase a lower subscription tier in January and bank the roll overs until you actually need it in August and September.
Credit packs
For a busy build week or a one-off project, buy a pack instead of a subscription.

Pack credits and any promo credits never expire.
For a limited time during the beta, through March 1, 2027, credits plans are 35% off monthly and 20% off yearly, and credit packs are 20% off. The discount is applied automatically at checkout and shown on the billing page.
How credits are used up
Our goal is to make sure you get the absolute most for your money and to be as transparent as possible.
Included credits are spent first, then credits plan credits, then packs and promo credits. There's no cap on how many credits you can hold. If a balance ever shows slightly below zero, nothing is charged for it, and the next credits added cover it.
When you run out
If your balance hits zero, CarlBot stops taking new messages. Nothing is charged, nothing is deleted, and the rest of IgorBox Studio keeps working exactly as before. The panel says "This studio is out of AI credits for now" along with the date your included credits reset. Admins and Owners see a Get more credits button that opens the billing page; everyone else is asked to have an admin add credits. A reply that was already running finishes. Transcription and Remember this pause the same way. Owners and Admins also get one email when the IgorBox Studio runs out.
Add credits, or wait for the monthly reset, and CarlBot picks back up.
If you've connected your own AI assistant to your IgorBox Studio (see Connect Your Own AI Assistant), its work doesn't use CarlBot credits, because you're paying your own AI provider. The one exception is transcription, which uses your IgorBox Studio credits either way.
If you turn CarlBot off
An Owner or Admin can turn off Let people in this Studio use CarlBot in Settings → General (see Turning CarlBot off). Your balance and history aren't lost; they're just disabled until CarlBot is turned back on. A credits plan keeps renewing on its own schedule, and the billing page still shows it with the renewal date and a Cancel button. Cancel it there if you don't want to keep paying while CarlBot is off.
